Sununu Leads On Energy While Shaheen "Remains Silent"

Sen. John Sununu has shown again that he is far more interested in getting things done in Washington than in scoring partisan points against Democrats.

This week Sununu came out in support of the Clean Energy Act, a bipartisan bill to allow offshore oil drilling only in a portion of currently unexplored coastal areas while pushing renewable energy.

Sununu supports opening the entire Outer Continental Shelf to drilling. But this bill could pass this fall, he said, and he wants to take action now to lower gas prices.

[I]n supporting it, Sununu once again shows his willingness to find the middle ground on issues of critical importance. And as usual, as Sununu takes an early lead on a big issue, Jeanne Shaheen remains silent. She has yet to take a position on this bill.
